Cadwell Park Kawasaki Jnr Cup with 151s racer Lewis Jones
Cadwell Park has presented it’s issues for Lewis & just seems to be a “bogey” track for him. Friday free practice although the team knew set up and gearing for this track was spent with Lewis familiarizing himself and some reasonable lap times set. Saturday with qualifying and race one saw Lewis start from P4, this is where he would finish the race some way off the leading group which was not his usual stance. The second race on Saturday ended with a podium in 3rd place and close battle all through the race Lewis also produced a fantastic lap time during this race. Lewis then shot off after getting kitted up in wedding suit to arrive at his mum’s wedding which was held during the day.
Sunday and another two races resulted in two 4th place finishes.
Not the way the team or Lewis wanted to leave Cadwell Park but onto the next round at Snetterton on 13th – 15th September with a positive attitude and a championship title to chase.
As always thank you to all our sponsors who play a major part in the success of this team
So a different weekend for Team 151s spent helping 11 year old Bailey Stuart Campbell on the weekend of 26th -28th July at Lydd in Kent.
Bailey races in the British Chamnpionship CoolFab mini bike series on a GP70 Metrakit race bike. Friday free practice was spent learning the technical track and setting up the bike. We finally found a dry setting which Bailey liked on the last session after much feedback from Bailey. Saturday was 2x qualifiying sessins where in the rain Bailey did not feel happy with bike set up. We made a few adjustments during the day but only qualified 13th far from where we all know Bailey should have been. New piston, ring and bearing fitted by 151s on Friday evening. Saturday race was held also in tricky conditions so the race was finished in 10th place. Clearly Bailey was not happy with this so “drastic” bike set up alterations were made on Saturday evening.
Come Sunday Bailey only had 11 laps to get to grips with the drastically different handling bike which from lap 3 or 4 we could all see he grasped with both hands clearly the set up had worked.
Race one setting off from P13 Bailey blitzed through the field and finished an amazing 2nd place and set a NEW LAP RECORD!!!!!!!!. The last race on Sunday was still not going to be easy but Bailey once again made it from P13 on the grid to finish in 2nd place.
Great little lad to work with, pklenty of feedback from him and all of us at 151s wish him well for his move next year to the British Superbike paddock where he will race in the BritishTalent Cup on board a new Moto3 GP bike
Brands Hatch GP Circuit
A very different weekend with the pleasure of racing one of the best if not the best UK bike circuit
151s Team Green Junior Cup at Brands Hatch GP circuit. At the finish of the weekend Lewis Jones still leads the championship riding the team 151s Kawasaki Ninja 300. Friday free practice went well until on the penultimate session during a practice start a chain snapped causing a “bit” of work until 11.45 that evening. Qualifying the next morning went well for only 1 flying lap setting pole but crashed out on the next lap. Lewis ended up in 3rd position but had lost vital track time learning the GP section of the track. Race one after a blinding start only lasted just under half a lap while Lewis was leading there was a coming together and unfortunately both riders went down (both ok). Saturdays second race was always going to be hard for Lewis starting from 23rd on the grid due to his DNF in race one. Still learning the GP part of the circuit we were hoping for just a result but amazingly Lewis finishes in 3rd. Sunday started a bit cooler so track temp was not as hot. In the first race Lewis and Ash Barnes gave the spectators a dream to watch while the both swapped lead position with Ash finally taking victory. It was a real joy to watch. Lewis set a new lap record during this race. The second race on Sunday and the final of the Jnr cup weekend had 4 racers battling until the last lap started with no-one really knowing who was going to win. However there was some confusion and all 4 front runners pulled up back into the park ferme not realising there was still one lap remaining. A tough lesson learned by all RACE until you see the CHEQUERED or RED flag. A huge thank you to everyone involved in team 151s without your support this would not be possible…………………. On to the next round at Cadwell Park …. WORN by WINNERS
